In order to expand into the north Bengal area, United States – based Beauty care items provider Avon on Thursday said it is about to start offices in this region besides focusing on women entrepreneurship.
Avon Beauty Products India Managing Director Ujjwal Sankar Mukhopadhyay said ” Avon in India works on direct marketing design, has 12 centres, featuring two here and will soon open an office at Siliguri in north Bengal”.
“We have 12 offices in India of which 2 are in the eastern area. We are preparing one in Siliguri as we see exceptional potential in North Bengal. Especially, Darjeeling Kalimpong, Siliguri, Jalpaiguri are doing best”.
Avon currently offers around 1,500 items in India via direct selling agents and also sees excellent ability in women entrepreneurship in West Bengal and looks to market it, he pointed out.
In coming time Avon expects the amount of its direct marketing professionals to boost from 1,00,000 representatives to 1,20,000.
“From past three years, the company has actually been expanding at good rate and we will keep this healthy and balanced development rate in the coming times,” Mukhopadhyay claimed.
He also said that Avon at this point of time is not looking forward to start additional manufacturing unit because production unit at Dehradun is meeting around 85% of all demands in India and the rest is imported from other countries.
