    Almost 2 months after the Mumbai authorities ordered cafe Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) to close doors to representatives of Hong Kong-based MLM  company QNet. Now one of its franchises has actually challenged the restriction in the Karnataka high court.

    Vihaan Direct Selling (India) Pvt Ltd has moved the Karnataka high court challenging the ban imposed by the Mumbai police,” special prosecutor Pradeep Gharat said. Vihaan, in its petition, has said their legal and constitutional rights were violated because of the ban. “We will be filing a detailed reply in the Karnataka high court stating that the Mumbai police has not restricted any individual from entering the coffee shop. However, the ban is only for taking part in business activities and indulging in any further criminal activities,” said Mr Gharat.

    The Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA) on Thursday stated the direct selling industry is again moving forward this year as compared with an adverse growth in 2013-14.

    The IDSA in association with PHD Chamber of Commerce  (PHDCCI) released the yearly survey record for 2013-14 on the direct selling sector, according to which the total sales turnover grew simply 4.3 per cent in 2013 as compared with a 12 each cent rise in the previous year. (more…)

Following are the four points I have learned are most important.

    1. Provide clear direction.

    Perhaps the most important part of keeping a sales force motivated is providing a clear direction. If you aren’t able to provide a clear vision of the path the company is heading down, then you can’t provide your sales force with deliverables to prove the company and its team members are actually heading down that path. Without the vision and steps to get there, you won’t be able to keep your sales force motivated. On the contrary, the best leaders have a clear vision of where they want to take their organization, and are therefore able to mobilize troops to accomplish seemingly impossible goals. (more…)

    Direct selling major Amway plans to make India an export hub for its operations in Middle East and South Asian countries, even as its business growth here has slowed down due to lack of clarity for applicable regulations.

    The company also said there is an urgent need for detailed regulations to distinguish genuine direct sellers from sham players and to give a sense of legitimacy to the industry.

    “We need more clarity in the regulations so that the growth level is up. Few years ago, it had a very strong double digit growth which has slowed down and there is a need for a better understanding of legitimate direct selling company,” Amway managing director & CEO William S Pinckney told PTI.   (more…)

    NEW DELHI: The consumer affairs ministry is keen to set up a regulator for the over Rs 7,000 crore direct marketing industry and on Thursday minister Ram Vilas Paswan added his stamp of approval to the idea.

    Following demand from the industry, the government has constituted an inter-ministerial group (IMG) to look into the issue and the first meeting is scheduled next week. The committee has members from corporate affairs and department of industrial policy and promotion (DIPP) and is headed by consumer affairs secretary Keshav Desiraju. (more…)
